Verlaine House started during the uncertainty of 2020.

Like so many people, we suddenly had more time to think. Life had slowed down, plans were cancelled, and for a while, many of the things we normally looked forward to simply disappeared. Nights out. Holidays. Birthdays. Celebrations. Even the simple feeling of getting dressed and going somewhere.

That was when the idea behind Verlaine House began.

We kept coming back to one thought: there will be a time when life feels open again. And when it does, we want to celebrate it.

We started with dresses because, to us, a dress has always been more than just something you wear. It can hold a memory. The dress you wore on your first date. The one you bought for your birthday after a difficult year. The one you put on before a night with your best friends, when you looked in the mirror and finally thought, yes, this feels like me.

Over the past six years, Verlaine House has grown from that small idea into something we are incredibly proud to share. We have spent years searching for styles we genuinely believe in: feminine, flattering, bold, elegant and made for every kind of woman and every kind of moment.

But somewhere along the way, we realised we wanted this brand to mean more than simply selling beautiful dresses.

Because while clothing can make us feel confident, there are women fighting battles where confidence can feel much further away.

Almost everyone knows someone whose life has been touched by breast cancer. A mother. A sister. A best friend. A colleague. Or perhaps you have experienced that moment yourself, when life suddenly becomes divided into before and after.

That is why giving back became part of Verlaine House.

We are committed to donating approximately 10% of our income to Pink Ribbon, supporting their work to fund research and projects focused on breast cancer, treatment, life after treatment and improving the lives of people affected by the disease. In the Netherlands, Pink Ribbon states that 1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.

We know a fashion brand cannot solve everything. But we also believe that small decisions, repeated by enough people, can become something meaningful.
